Job Description

Pyramid Hotel Group is seeking an experienced Banquet Captain to oversee the banquet service team onsite at the Texas A&M Hotel and Conference Center in College Station, Texas. This role coordinates the setup, execution, and teardown of banquet events, ensuring client needs are met and guest experiences are extraordinary, all at an hourly rate of USD 18 to 20. Based at the College Station property, the position calls for hands-on leadership and a commitment to safety, service standards, and professional hospitality.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and participate in the setup, preparation, service, and teardown of banquet functions
  • Provide training to staff
  • Ensure function starts on time with all client needs and respond quickly to guest requests
  • Ensure all safety procedures are followed
  • Conduct pre-event meetings
  • Interact with guests, event coordinators, property conference managers, and other departments to successfully execute events
  • Evaluate and provide corrective action to team members
  • Fill out necessary paperwork for functions (order stewarding, chaffing dishes, tables and miscellaneous products)
  • Assist in conducting pre-shift and huddle meetings informing the staff all necessary information about the event they are working
  • Ensure high grooming and hygiene standards are met by all Banquet staff
  • Assist the Banquet Manager to establish maintenance, repair, and cleaning schedules for all Banquet equipment
  • Giving the guest the best experience possible by going above and beyond
  • Close all Banquet checks at the end of their function
  • Help Manage department service standards, POS station, schedules and labor/beverage costs
  • Attend necessary meetings involving events such as BEO meetings
  • Help maintain/updating BEOS/ function sheets
  • Check Banquet rooms, service, kitchen areas for cleanliness, proper set up

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Five years banquets or catering experience; Two years in a leadership role preferred
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Exceptional knowledge and understanding of various banquet and food service techniques and standards; banquet bartending knowledge preferred
  • Must be able to read and speak English
  • Organized and efficient
  • Basic computer skills

Schedule

Full-time: 30-40 hours per week depending on level of business forecasted. Days of week and shift start times vary with workload. Candidates must be available to work Game Days, Ring Ceremonies, Graduation, Holidays and other high occupancy times due to special events.
